EXPLORING ABSTRACTION

An exciting, practical three-day course employing a variety of techniques for abstract painting.

In this hands-on, studio-based course students explore the process of abstract spatial mark-making, experimenting with unconventional methods to create works of vibrant intensity. A highly inventive artist, Simon Williams encourages participants to experiment with a combination of oil paint, inks and water-based spray paint among a range of other materials. We also look at the work of 20th-century masters and leading contemporary abstract painters to analyse their techniques and strategies.

The course gives students an insight into new methods and techniques to discover and implement their own personal creative language.
