PAINT, LANDSCAPE AND LIGHT
Tom Rickman is a master of portraying the ever changing effects of light on landscape.
This fascinating three day course enables students to learn, with Tom’s help, how to study the changing qualities and atmospheres of light. Through observation and notation students will explore our relationship with light and colour through the 24 hour cycle, and how we can transfer this into our artistic practice, in a poetic, conceptual and metaphorical sense.
Weather permitting the group will spend an equal amount of time both out painting and drawing in the landscape and working over the many notes and studies taken out in the landscape in the school studio to make stand alone work. An exciting element of this course will be working alongside a contemporary artist as he shares his practice of making notes, painted colour studies and pencil and chalk drawings on an array of different papers; paving the way towards the creation of a thick home-made bound sketch book recording your experiences over the three day course.
The course will include an extra complimentary session in the evening wandering out under the dusk skies to experience the progression from day to night - and beyond!
All drawing materials, supports and paint will be supplied by the art school.
