Luke Frost is well known for his exciting use of colour and comes from a line of celebrated colourists including his grandfather Sir Terry Frost and his father Anthony. This hands-on course explores how to mix and combine found colours with paint.
The course starts with a session down at Newlyn Harbour where Luke helps students explore the process of making studies from the colours and forms found among the surrounding fishing boats, empty crates, nets, and sea and harbour walls.
Returning to the school, participants are given a series of exercises in combining and contrasting colours, all the while being encouraged to observe how colours are informed by the surface on which they are painted and how colours affect one another when placed together.
This is a fascinating, vibrant course for anyone interested in exploring colour.
