EXPRESSIVE FLOWER PAINTING

EXPRESSIVE FLOWER PAINTING

This energised and exciting two-day course takes inspiration and information from the diverse world of flowers and their abundance of variety, identities, colours, shapes, and silhouettes that we will explore in multiple ways on this course. For artist Tutor Rob Unett, flowers are where to let go of figurative rules, and allow oneself to freely and artistically journey through the wonder of flora.

This two-day course is an immersion into the possibilities of combining a wide variety of painting and drawing media with an open, experimental approach to depicting flora.

Contemporary artist Rob Unett is a highly experienced, dynamic tutor, encouraging participants to explore and create a personal visual language in mark-making, before beginning to creatively respond to organic forms, and on this course, specifically flowers.

Media play is encouraged, with students working across numerous different types of papers and sketchbooks to capture thoughts, marks and observations, create colour variations, plan compositions, and make notes of the many ways we depict flowers.

Traditional techniques will be challenged by modern approaches to discover new colours, textures, shapes, light and aesthetics, expanding our capacity for wonderment. We will build a body of work that, during a period of group reflection, will open up new areas of opportunity and richness in our practice
