INSPIRED BY PAULA REGO

The Inspired by Paula Rego online course offers participants a host of exercises demonstrated and outlined by artist Faye Dobinson using works by Paula Rego as inspiration. Exercises and demonstrations include many different elaborate interior still life and figure set ups based around well-known works by Rego. Working with inspiration from one of the great artists of the 20th and 21st Centuries Faye is able to pull out of Rego’s work a great number of ways to bring new ideas and approaches to your work.

The course includes looped film clips of the different subjects explored on the course for participants to draw and paint from alongside the exercises.

Faye uses a simple range of dry drawing materials including pencils, charcoal and chalks and inks and acrylics on the course but the teaching and exercises would all also be applicable for any coloured drawing materials and paint media.

A wonderful opportunity to gain inspiring guidance on how to learn from the drawings and mixed media work used by Rego across a number of different subjects she depicted over her career.

The course is pre-recorded so that you can take your time to really absorb the wealth of advice, practical exercises and demonstrations throughout the course. We would advise spending at least around 3-4 days working your way through the course. The artist suggests that it would be good to create several studies from each exercise to fully explore the learning and new techniques and approaches.

You have unlimited access to the course for 12 months.
