Life Drawing Session No.1

Starting with a 'mixed-up' palette of colour and explaining how to use it in a specific way, Jesse demonstrates techniques with watercolours and ink on wetted paper. The main focus of the lesson is about shapes and how to create them within the fluidity of the painted line. As a visual aid, the model is wearing a long scarf to enhance the flow and composition of the painting.

Materials used on this course:

For this session, taught by Jesse Leroy Smith, it would be good to have some of the following: 2-3 watercolors (or watered down acrylic), 2-3 brushes, 5-6 sheets of large paper ideally A2 in size, rags, a few cups of water, pencils and some coloured ink is preferable. However, materials are flexible and you can get a lot out of the session without some of the above.
