Realism is the movement of painting that seeks to describe the landscape as the artist sees it, with clarity and honesty. In this four-day painting course, artist Jon Doran focuses on teaching key principles that help participants to observe and capture a variety of rural or coastal scenes in oil paint.
Cornwall lends itself to landscape painting given its wide variety of atmospheric locations, from the rugged north coast cliffs to quiet, secluded coves. Each day, Jon takes the participants to a new location to explore a range of approaches to painting from life. This is a perfect course for those who enjoy the outdoors and who would like to learn how to create convincing representations of place.
