Amanda Hoskin

Artist Amanda Hoskin teaches our Landscape in Oils course and the Tresco Painting Holidays.

Amanda has been working as a full-time artist for over 20 years exhibiting in galleries throughout the UK and further afield in America. She predominantly works in oils using a particular technique that she has perfected over time.

As an artist that is always in demand by galleries and collectors alike, she considers herself to be very fortunate and is constantly developing her work.

Every painting or solo show starts with her sketchbook often working towards a theme for example the Saints Way Walk or the entire Cornish Coastal Path. Amanda will walk and then stop to sketch using watercolours or pastels, after several days she will have finally accumulated enough work in her sketchbook to then return to the studio where she will start painting in oils. Here the studio works almost like a filter, simplifying the landscape to paint a picture that is as much about the light or atmosphere as the location.

As a tutor, she tries to share her way of working and techniques that she has developed over the years, but her main aim is to help others to find their path and voice through their passion and enjoyment of painting.
