Michela Carraro

Michela Carraro will be heading up The Figure team, alongside Rob Unett for 2025-26.

Michela Carraro, originally from Italy, is now based in London, where she both studied and works. With a passion for creative expression, she teaches on a Specialist Fashion Textiles Course, sharing her extensive knowledge and experience with students. In her own practice, Michela takes a multidisciplinary approach that blurs the lines between fine art, fashion, and textiles.

Her diverse background allows her to draw from various disciplines, using them as tools to explore form, shape, colour, and texture. This can involve working directly with the body, styling garments, or capturing movement through photography and sketching. She enjoys experimenting with composition and often uses her work as a canvas for visual storytelling. Whether it's paper, fabric, or clay, she thrives in the process of experimentation—constantly testing the boundaries of materiality and scale.

Michela’s work is deeply rooted in a playful, open-minded approach, where the unexpected is not only embraced but celebrated. Her philosophy encourages stepping outside of comfort zones and finding beauty in the act of making. For her, the journey of creation is just as important as the final outcome, with each experiment contributing to a broader understanding of possibility.
