Tim Ball
Tim is one of the artists who exhibits in our annual fundraiser and has close connections with the school.
My Paintings have always been a response to my immediate environment. It has always been important for me to immerse myself in the landscape, to linger in the edgelands and overlooked spaces. To wander through the spaces and try and represent the essence and energy of that experience.
My work always begins with a walk, this is where the creative journey begins. Spending this valuable time in the landscape over the seasons helps to inform my practice and my work often reflects the seasons as they appear, a time to focus and absorb the changes and to have a stripped-back approach to capturing the natural shapes and textures.
I have been painting for over 30 years and have spent most of this time exploring and documenting the landscape of Derbyshire and the Peak District. I am a trustee for a local Arts festival and I am planning a new series of woodland workshops that will hopefully begin in 2025.
