About CAMP is a member-led support and professional development network for
artists, arts workers, and other creatives. CAMP collectively promotes and supports doing, making,
and sharing contemporary art across Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
CAMP’s current focus is on supporting artists based in rural areas where access to services, transport and amenities is limited. We also engage with artists who are isolated due to economic, health or other factors.
Over the past 5 years CAMP has worked with partners to offer workshops, opportunities, meetups, exhibitions and residencies to support professional development of artists here. Through collaboration with galleries including KARST, Studio KIND, Exeter Phoenix and others we have facilitated showing opportunities. Working with Arts University Plymouth, Back Lane West, KARST, Real Ideas Organisation, Krowji and others we have supported studio and research residencies. We have presented a series of online and in-person workshops on funding, social media, artist statements, documenting work, etc. We have hosted talks by artists, curators and other professionals in the sector to involve members in current debates and ideas.
Viv Spencer is one of the guest speakers for our Symposium Q and A weekend, filmed as part of our '100 Mentors' online course.
